A Man Cut Into Slices is centered around a dark humored, first-person series about a young man who makes one irreversible mistake, and wakes up in a jail cell facing a 20-to-life murder charge.
Readers like you aren’t just observers. You enter the world as “inmates,” explore its cells, and decide how long you will stay each night.
At the heart of the experience is guilt, power, and human behavior.
At the head of the experience is what happens when a persons mind is slowly cut into slices by institutions, guards, other inmates, and time.
At the end of the night, we all have to wake up and face the choices we’ve made.
Greetings inmate #O
My name is Shame Light, and I am the warden of The Knight Prism Penitentiary. Before you enter for the first time, there are some facts you will need to know if you are to thrive.
Fact # 1: The whole Prism is currently on lockdown due to insufficient public funding.
Meaning your out-of-cell access is limited.
Fact # 2: You can check it out anytime—and you can always leave.
Fact # 3: Everything you experience here was created deliberately, and with your freedom in mind. Not to lure you into signing up for anything and definitely not to waste your time.
Fact # 4: Once you go through booking, you will be directed to The Cell in quarantine. Once inside, there will be nothing to do except read and talk to your celly, Cillian Knight.
While in quarantine, these are the books available to you whilst in The Cell:
Read: Wright to Jail-A Memoir on Murder? Not Exactly. You can read the full book in here at no cost. Just reach out to me on the next page to receive the password. If you find the story worthy of support, there is a pay-what-you-can option.
Read: My Crime. This page contains detailed court documents and other pertinent information about the circumstances that led to the moment I regret every single day. (I know this is going to really suck at times, because some people are just nasty about their opinions no matter what, but shedding light on such things allows me to step out of the shadows, and into the light.)
Read: The Sylvia Beach Hotel Is Dead.: This “book” is a story about…
Sorry, the back page is missing, so you’ll just have to figure out what it’s about on your own when you get bored.
Once you finish reading Wright to Jail—A Memoir on Murder? Not Exactly, Contact me, the warden, in order to get out of quarantine. Also, you’ll receive your unique Knight Prism Penitentiary #, which will give you access to:
A Contest Cut Into Slices: Write a short story, 500–5,000 words, using the short-story framework we created for you. It’s structured enough to get you started, flexible enough to let you find your voice, and open to anyone who believes they can tell a story.
Entry is free. The cash prize is 23% of all revenue generated during the contest period, including Wright to Jail book sales and all donations and sponsorships received through Buymeacoffee.com/ShaneWright $$$$)
Potentially Become One of The 23 & We:
There is no such thing as bad art, just an undesirable perspective.
However, 23 of the inmates here who can create desirable perspectives, will be invited to join The 23 & We. Picture this if you will: The next series Slices That Make Up A Man, finds Cillian Knight in prison collecting 23 other inmates wildest stories.
23 chapters.
23 inmates.
23 independent writers.
Slices That Make Up A Man could be bigger than the bible… or the Mormon Bible anyways—The Book of Mormon.
Without further ado, let’s get you into booking where you’ll receive the password to access to the book(s).
